Cafe Fish closed its doors back in 2013 after a disagreement between former management and Transnet property. In 2013, The Mercury reported that the landmark harbour restaurant’s contract had not been renewed.
According to the report, VSM Investments rented the land from Transnet, which owned the land on which the restaurant was situated. At the time, co-owner, Wessel Jacobs, declined to pay the full rental amount as he was advised not to.
The restaurant’s closing had a massive impact on locals who frequented the place. But, when 9th Avenue Bistro announced that they would be moving, there was massive applause!
