Fruit-loaded playtime snacks

Fruity playdate treats

Playdates don’t need to be fuelled by sugar! Instead, offer little ones these fruit-laden playtime snacks that are both healthy and delicious.

• BANANASICLES

These fun Bananasicles give ice lollies a real fruit twist that little ones can’t resist! Bananas are coated in a mix of yoghurt and Squish 100% Fruit Puree then popped in the freezer to create a naturally delicious treat. You can finish off with hundreds and thousands or chocolate sprinkles for added appeal. Squish 100% Fruit and Veggie Purees are a smart and convenient choice for busy parents. They are made from top quality fruit and vegetables, are free from nasties like preservatives, colourants and flavourants and have no added cane sugar or starch.

Ingredients

2 bananas

125ml plain yoghurt

1 x 110ml Squish 100% Fruit Puree – pick your little one’s favourite fruit flavour like Summer Berries, Apple + Guava or Fruit Salad.

Sprinkles (optional)

Method

Slice two bananas in half lengthways. Insert a wooden skewer carefully into the one end of each banana slice and place on a lined baking sheet. Mix together 125ml plain yoghurt and your favourite Squish 100% Fruit Puree pouch. Spread the yoghurt and fruit mix over the bananas and decorate with sprinkles.

Freeze for 20-40 minutes.

TIP: Turn making the Banansicles into a playdate activity. Get the toddlers to help add the sprinkles when they arrive, then put the bananas in the freezer for them to enjoy after an hour of play.

• MINI BANANA MUFFINS

These fruit-loaded muffins freeze well, so bake a batch and freeze ahead so that you always have a tasty snack on hand when little ones get hungry.

• BERRY SMOOTHIE

Even when the weather is cooler it is important to keep busy toddlers hydrated, and smoothies are a great way to do that. Simply blitz all the ingredients together and serve.

Ingredients

1 x 110 ml Squish 100% Summer Berries Puree

1 cup plain yoghurt

½ teaspoon chia seeds (optional)

Method

Blend together well.

TIP: This is also a great way to use up any leftover Squish 100% Fruit and Veg Purees you might have in the fridge. Squish pouches come with a resealable lid so you can just use what you need and save the rest for later.
