First Fruits to Try on Your Baby’s Solids Journey
Fruit is an essential element of your baby’s introduction to solids, along with cereals and veggies. Here are the best fruits to try and delicious recipes for snack and mealtime inspiration.
Just like vegetables, fruit is key to ensuring your little one enjoys a balanced diet. Fruit includes essential nutrients and vitamins that will help keep your baby healthy as they grow and develop during their first year. Fruit also allows you to introduce variety to your child’s diet both in terms of taste and texture – all of which will help you raise healthy, happy eaters.
Here are some first fruits to try:
Banana: Easy to mash and chew, bananas are packed full of goodness, delivering doses of Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 and potassium.
Apple and Pear: These deciduous fruits are rich in Vitamin C which is essential for the absorption of iron. They are good on their own – either pureed or grated – or can be added to other foods like yoghurt or mashed sweet potato.
Mango: Mango has an impressive list of vitamins and nutrients, including Vitamins C, B6 and A, potassium and fibre. Plus, ripened mango is easy to mash.
Berries: These nutritious gifts from nature are a rich source of Vitamins C, K and B6, antioxidants, minerals like zinc, potassium and phosphorus as well as calcium and magnesium.
